Alexa B. Antopol

Chief Intelligence Officer

B.F.A. Theatre Production, Emerson College;
M.L.I.S. Pratt Institute

Director of Professional Development, Society for Marketing Professional  Services (SMPS)

Theatre Planning is not a licensed profession.

Alexa joined the FDA team at the end of March 2014, with great enthusiasm. She holds a B.F.A. in theatre production from Emerson College, and an M.L.I.S. and an archives certificate from Pratt Institute. In 2013, she completed Community Emergency Response Team training through the New York City Office of Emergency Management, so she’s ready for anything.

Previously she spent eight years as the reference and research librarian at OPERA America, the national service organization for professionals working in the field of opera. Additionally, she held production administration positions at Glimmerglass Opera (now The Glimmerglass Festival), was a stage manager in the Juilliard School’s Professional Intern Program and for the Juilliard School Concert Office, and held customer service and operations positions at Rose Brand, one of the nation’s largest theatrical suppliers.

Alexa is a member of the New York City Chapter of SMPS, a professional development group for marketers and business developers in the A/E/C industry; the Theta Chapter of Beta Phi Mu, the national library and information studies honor society; the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, dedicated to the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community; and the National Center for Science Education, which defends teaching the theory of evolution in public schools.

Alexa is currently serving on the Board of Directors of SMPS-NY as the Director of Professional Development and on the AIA-NY Cultural Facilities Committee as a Program Director. She is also one of the New York Real Estate Journal’s Women in Real Estate and Construction Services for 20182019, and 2020, and was the SMPS-NY Member of the Month for March 2019.

She and her husband, author Nicholas Kaufmann, live in historic Crown Heights with their cat. Together, they enjoy rambling walks through Brooklyn, reading, and the universe in general. Alexa brings a unique skill to FDA’s team: she is licensed to officiate at marriages in New York City. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment.
