Michelle Wun joined FDA in November 2022 as a consultant in the firm’s planning department. She was previously a project designer at Rawlings Architects pc where she worked on School Construction Authority and residential projects. She is experienced in gymnatorium layout for intermediate schools and event spaces for hotels. She also worked on commercial architecture and interior design projects based in Hong Kong, China, and Malaysia. She has been the resident set designer for Leetle Stage since 2015, which produced theatre performances ranging from 380+ seat studio theaters to 480+ seat civic centers in Hong Kong. She is currently working on Arts Commons Transformation in Calgary, seating designs for the Park Avenue Armory, Fredericton Playhouse, among other projects.
Michelle received her Master in Architecture from HKU, for which her thesis focused on adaptive reuse of obsolete infrastructure as production and event space. She also researched the ecology and production chain supporting the performance industry in Shanghai, and the cultural tourism network connected by the high-speed railway in China. During her time in the exchange semester in the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, she explored scenography, landscape, and performances in Europe. To continue her passion in research, she is currently working on a project about happenings and their venues in New York City.
As an artivist specialized in interactive and participatory art, Michelle’s works had been displayed in parks and galleries in New York. She enjoys figure drawing of dancers, scouting event venues, crafting pop-up cards, and jamming Cantonese songs with her band mates – she is a vocalist and plays acoustic guitar.
Other projects Michelle has worked on include:
- St. Lawrence Center for the Arts
- Center for the Arts and Innovation | Boca Raton
- Kennedy Center Concert Hall Seating Replacement
- Artists Repertory Theatre, Portland OR
- Medgar Evers College
