Ak-Chin Pavilion

Designed by FDA and completed in 1990, what was then called the Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavilion was built for presenting rock music on a large scale. With 8,000 covered seats and an additional 12,000-guest capacity on the lawn, the Pavilion has hosted some of the world’s most famous tours and popular music concerts. The venue opened in November 1990 with Billy Joel as the inaugural performer.

The pavilion enjoys high attendance especially in July and August, when it has historically held some of the country’s best known music festivals, including Lollapalooza, the Vans Warped Tour, and the Phoenix stop on the tour of the annual Mayhem Festival.
